My name is Dave, my parts suppliers call me 2 point 7 Dave for all the 2.7L engines I have built. I have built and installed well over 500 of the 2.7L engines.

I have been building engines for many years now. The last five years I have focused on the 2.7L Dodge/Chrysler engine. I have found some major flaws with this engine. On my rebuilt engines I take care of them by modifying the crank and the oil galilees. The two major failures of these engines are spoon rod bearings and timing chains jumping time bending the intake valves. You will also read about oil sludge. At this point there has been no real cause for this other than possibility of the water pump leaking coolant in to the oiling system and/or people not changing their oil or coolant when scheduled. I do replace the water pumps with new water pumps.
